National Taco Day 2026 is here, and this year it lands on Taco Tuesday, October 6, making it an extra special day for taco lovers across the country. Many popular restaurant chains and local eateries are rolling out exciting deals, discounts, and free taco offers to celebrate the occasion.
In the past, National Taco Day was observed on October 4, but in 2024 it was officially moved to the first Tuesday of October so it would always coincide with Taco Tuesday. This change has made the celebration even bigger, with more restaurants joining in to offer BOGO deals, $2 tacos, freebies, and month-long promotions.
Whether you prefer crispy shells, soft street tacos, or gourmet toppings, there’s something for everyone this National Taco Day. From Taco Bell’s Global Taco Day collaboration with Duolingo to Del Taco’s Tacoberfest, here’s everything you need to know about the best deals and how to claim them.
What Is National Taco Day 2026?
National Taco Day is an annual food holiday dedicated to celebrating one of America’s favorite Mexican-inspired dishes—the taco. Originally celebrated on October 4, the holiday was shifted in 2024 to the first Tuesday in October to align with Taco Tuesday, creating a double celebration for taco enthusiasts.
This year, National Taco Day 2026 falls on Tuesday, October 6, and major restaurant chains like Taco Bell, Del Taco, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Jack in the Box, and more are offering special promotions. Some deals require rewards membership, while others are available to all customers. Many offers are limited-time only, so it’s best to check the restaurant’s app or website before visiting.
